Abstract:OBJECTIVE By understanding the chronic disease management ability of preventive medicine undergraduates, and further provide feasible suggestions for improving the practice teaching model. METHODS A questionnaire survey was conducted among 190 health system workers from disease prevention and control institutions, community health service institutions, top three hospitals and Universities, in Wuhan. RESULTS About 92% of health system staff thought that it was very important to train chronic disease management ability for undergraduates of Preventive Medicine, and 56.8% thought that preventive medicine undergraduate chronic disease management ability couldn’t fully meet current chronic disease management needs in China. Personnel hygiene system considers the students should go to participate in the practice of learning in chronic disease departments of hospital(89.5%), community(92.6%) and disease control (86.4%) and other chronic diseases and related institutions, training of preventive medicine majors of chronic disease management targeted. CONCLUSION The chronic disease management ability of preventive medicine undergraduates couldn’t satisfy the current demand of chronic disease management in China, We should strengthen the practice study of preventive medicine undergraduates in the community, disease control, general hospital, chronic disease room and other related chronic disease medical institutions.
