Abstract:Author used data analysis, field observation and interview to investigate the current situation of geriatric department of a tertiary hospital in Kunming. It is found that the hospital has the advantages of better medical equipment, infrastructure and staffing in the development of combination of medical care service for the aged, but there are still some problems such as higher fees, less attention to the quality of maintenance and nursing and no connection of medical insurance system. The development of the combination of medical care and nursing endowment service in tertiary hospitals conforms to the trend of population aging. It is suggested to strengthen the cooperation between hospitals and community institutions, promote the construction of professional medical care team, propel the connection and cooperation of medical insurance system and explore the long-term nursing insurance system.
