Abstract:Objective To study the cognitive level and its influencing factors of knowledge related to osteoporosis prevention among middle-aged and elderly residents in Jinan, in order to develop effective intervention programs to provide scientific evidence. Methods The questionnaire survey method was used to conduct the research on local residents over the age of 40. Results The overall level of related knowledge is not high, the total points and the item average mark were respectively (9.80±4.24) and (0.45±0.19). The cognitive level was different among respondents with different age, marital status, education level, economic status, work status, medical insurance and BMI, and the differences were statistically significant (Pall＜0.05); multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, work status and marital status were the factors influencing the cognitive level. Conclusion CDC or health education workers should use a variety of methods such as expert lectures, distribution of promotional materials and community display boards to continuously strengthen the popularization of knowledge related to osteoporosis prevention,and the popularization should focus on the basic knowledge, risk factors, treatment and follow-up, calcium intake and sports related to osteoporosis.CDC or health education workers should pay attention to these middle-aged and elderly residents with low literacy , unemployed, or not in marriage.
