Abstract:OBJECTIVE To implement the work of ensuring the safety of mothers and babies，to understand the occurrence of high-risk pregnant women，and achieve the goal of reducing maternal mortality. METHODS According to the Implementation Plan for Strengthening Maternal and Child Safety Guarantee of Shanxi Province 2017 issued by Shanxi Provincial Health Commission, consult the statistics report of maternal and child safety guarantee work from 2018 to 2019 and the evaluation data of maternal deaths，and analyze the safety guarantee of mother and child Results of work. Pregnant women whose pregnancy risk was assessed as higher than “orange” are defined as “high-risk” women. RESULTS In 2018，there were 1 477 high-risk pregnant and lying-in women，618 were managed by special cases，494 critically-ill pregnant and lying-in women were treated，and 4 cases of maternal deaths; in 2019，there were 1 487 high-risk pregnant and lying-in women，1 427 were managed by special cases，and 524 critically-ill pregnant and lying-in women were treated. There were 3 maternal deaths. In 2018，the number of live births was 29 411，and the maternal mortality rate was 13.6/100 000. In 2019, the number of live births was 31 890，and the maternal mortality rate was 9.4/100 000. CONCLUSION Implementing the five core national maternal and child safety systems, doing a good job in pregnancy risk assessment and project management, and improving the treatment capacity of critically ill pregnant women can reduce maternal mortality.
