Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the AIDS-related behavioral characteristics and HIV infection among drug users in Yingde City, and to provide scientific basis for AIDS prevention and control measures. METHODS According to the requirements of the National HIV sentinel surveillance implementation plan, a questionnaire survey was conducted among drug addicts in compulsory detoxification centers in Yingde City from 2013 to 2017, and blood samples were collected for HIV antibody detection. RESULTS A total of 1 920 drug addicts were monitored from 2013 to 2017. Their age ranged from 25 to 49 years old. Most of them were male, junior high school or below, and most of them were married. HIV infection rate was 0.52% and HCV infection rate was 27.55%. The main drug use mode was oral drug use (64.64%). 24.69% of drug users used traditional drugs (P<0.05). 59.53% of drug users used new drugs, showing an increasing trend year by year (P<0.05). 35.36% were injecting drug users, 33.33% had shared syringes in the last month, also showing a downward trend year by year (P＜0.05). 34.81% of drug addicts had commercial sex. CONCLUSION The HIV infection rate of drug users in Yingde City was generally at a low epidemic level, and the HCV infection rate was high. High-risk behaviors such as sharing syringes and unsafe commercial sex still existed. In the future, health education and behavioral intervention should be carried out among drug users, and comprehensive intervention measures should be taken to curb the spread of HIV, HCV and other diseases among drug users.
