Abstract:Abstract: OBJECTIVE To explore the mental health status of residents in Laoshan District, Qingdao, and provide targeted mental health services, improve the level of psychological healing services, enhance the mental health status, and improve residents’ sense of happiness in life. METHODS A convenient sampling method was employed to conduct the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) mental health screening on 5 411 residents in Laoshan District with one year. RESULTS The overall mental health status of residents in Laoshan District was good. In terms of SCL-90 score results, the average total score of the survey sample was 118.72 points, which was 160 points below the warning line. The overall average score was 1.32, which was lower than the national norm of 1.44. In terms of the number of warnings, 669 people scored indicating the occurrence of mental health warnings, accounting for 12.36%. In terms of gender differences, the proportion of psychological health warnings for women was 13.47%, which was higher than the 10.57% for men. In terms of spatial distribution, the average total score of SCL-90 for residents in J Street was relatively the highest among the five community streets in the district, at 126.74 points, indicating that the mental health level of residents in this street was poor. The total score of SCL-90 for residents in B Street was relatively the lowest, at 113.65 points, indicating that the mental health status of the residents in this street was relatively good. In terms of time distribution, the mental health status of residents in the area remained relatively stable over the four quarters, with the highest proportion of early warning cases in winter at 13.20% and the lowest proportion in spring at 11.24%. In terms of symptom presentation, the number of people with forced symptom warnings was the highest, with 586 people. The number of people with terror symptoms warning was the lowest, with 202 people. CONCLUSION It should continue to pay attention to the overall mental health of residents in Laoshan District. Based on the gender, street location, and seasonal changes of residents, combined with the comprehensive influence of individual, natural, and social environmental factors, targeted psychological interventions should be carried out and implemented to do a good job in mental health risk warning and intervention.
